MiCAN Technologies to participate in the 38th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments

MiCAN Technologies is pleased to announce our participation in the 38th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments (JSAAE 2025), to be held from November 1 (Sat) to November 3 (Mon), 2025, at PACIFICO Yokohama.

At this year’s meeting, we will present and exhibit our latest innovations related to the Monocyte Activation Test (MAT), an alternative to rabbit-based pyrogen tests, essential for drug safety evaluation. Our presentations will feature MiCAN’s proprietary immortalized monocyte-like cells, aMylc, introduced through a symposium, luncheon seminar, poster sessions, and our company booth.
The presentations will introduce our series of efforts from development to practical implementation, covering the evolution from the early version MylcMAT Ver. 1, which demonstrated comparability with conventional methods, to MylcMAT Ver. 2, which enables rapid measurement and accelerates industrial adoption, and finally to concrete strategies for implementing MAT in line with the European Pharmacopoeia’s move to eliminate animal testing.

Symposium

• Title: S11-6 Evaluation of the Practical Utility of aMylc Cells in the MAT Introduction Strategy Toward the Discontinuation of the Rabbit Pyrogen Test in the European Pharmacopoeia

• Overview: We will discuss how our MAT system using aMylc cells can contribute to the exiting movement to shift away from animal testing (rabbit pyrogen testing), that is currently underway primary in Europe.

Luncheon Seminar

• Title: Luncheon Seminar 3 – Pyrogen Testing in the 21st Century
• Date & Time: November 2 (Sun), 12:10–13:10 (Room 3)
• Overview: This session will provide an accessible overview of the latest advancements and future perspectives of MAT, highlighting its advantages and its role in modern, sustainable pyrogen testing for vaccines and biologics.
