Presentation on the Practical Application of Next-Generation MAT at the 41st Symposium on Issues Concerning GMP and Validation

On Friday, 6 March 2026, MiCAN Technologies delivered a presentation at the 41st Symposium on Issues Concerning GMP and Validation in Tokyo. The event was held at Curian, and the presentation was titled “Rapid and Highly Accurate MAT Enabled by the Evolution from the Immortalized Human Monocyte Cell Line ‘aMylc’ to ‘aMylc-Z’.”

This presentation was delivered in the session titled “Monocyte Activation Test Method as an In Vitro Pyrogen Test Aiming for Inclusion in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia Reference Information.” The presentation outlined the evolution of MAT technology, developed by our company, and our efforts towards its practical application.

The presentation highlighted the significance of MAT in detecting not only endotoxins but also non-endotoxin pyrogenic substances (NEPs), in light of the growing demand for in vitro safety evaluation methods to replace the use of animals in testing.

In addition to MylcMAT ver.1, which is based on our proprietary immortalized human monocyte cell line “aMylc,” we have introduced MylcMAT ver.2, which utilises the high cytokine-producing strain “aMylc-Z.” This version achieves high levels of reactivity and reproducibility, as well as a stable supply. It also reduces measurement time from approximately 24 hours to about 6 hours.

We also outlined a two-step approach for preliminary and main testing, along with a quality assurance system based on MCB/WCB management. This demonstrates implementation feasibility for operation under GMP conditions.

This communication emphasised that our MAT technology is a platform expected to be utilised not only for research purposes but also in future quality control and safety assessment settings.

MiCAN Technologies is committed to continuing its contribution to the advancement of pyrogen testing and the promotion of alternatives to animal testing. This commitment is reflected in the development of highly accurate testing systems that reflect human immune responses.
